Staff

Ewa Deelman

Ph.D. - Researcher
Ewa Deelman is a Research Team Leader of the Collaborative Computing Group in the Advanced Systems Division at ISI and a Research Associate Professor in the Dept of Computer Science at University of Southern California. Her main area of research is scientific workflow management in distributed systems. As part of this work she is leading the design and development of the Pegasus software that maps complex application workflows onto distributed resources.

Karan Vahi

Research Developer
Karan Vahi is a Software Developer in the Collaborative Computing Group, at the Advanced Systems Division, ISI. He is the lead developer of Pegasus and is in charge of the core development. Karan has been working on Pegasus since 2002.

Mats Rynge

Research Developer
Mats is a Research Developer in the Collaborative Computing Group at ISI. Before rejoining ISI in Dec 2009 he worked at RENCI in Chapel Hill, NC. Before RENCI Mats used to be a developer working on NMI and NPACI project in the Center for Grid Computing's Globus Group at ISI.

Rajiv Mayani

Programmer Analyst

Rajiv sarted out as a Directed Research student, progressing to a Student Worker and then finally full time programmer. He has been at ISI for almost 3 years. Rajiv works on BioInformatics projects.

Gideon Photo

Gideon Juve

Computer Scientist
Gideon Juve is a Computer Scientist in the Collaborative Computing Group at the USC Information Sciences Institute. He received his BS, MS and PhD degrees in Computer Science from USC in 2004, 2008, and 2012, respectively. His research focuses on enabling and optimizing large-scale, data-intensive scientific workflows on clusters, grids and clouds.

Weiwei Chen Photo

Weiwei Chen

Graduate Student (PHD)

Weiwei Chen is a Phd student in the Collaborative Computing Group at the USC Information Sciences Institute. He received his BS from Tsinghua University (China) in 2009 and his MS from USC in 2012. His research focuses on workflow restructuring including task clustering, workflow partitioning and overhead analysis.

Gaurang Mehta

Research Developer
Gaurang Mehta was a Research Software Developer in the Collaborative Computing Group, at the Advanced Systems Division, ISI. He worked on Pegasus development and other Workflow and Grid related technolgies from 2001-2012. His most recent work focused on Integrating Bioinformatics Projects with Pegasus and providing solutions for workflows and data management. He now works for Amazon.com in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) division.

Fabio Silva

Research Developer
Fabio is a Research developer with extensive background in Networks and Sensor technology. He worked on integrating Pegasus Workflows with sensors to deploy workflow technologies in the field. He has been working with various projects at ISI since 1999. He is now working at the Southern California Earthquake Center (SCEC) at the University of Southern California.

Jens Voeckler

Developer
Jens worked on the Page and FutureGrid Projects in addition to Pegasus. With a deep knowledge of all things C, Perl and Unix he is never shy at throwing the RFC's or W. Richard Stevens "Advanced Programming in the Unix Environment" at you. He now works at SDL - Language Weaver.

Rohit Agarwal

Intern

Rohit participated in the 2012 Viterbi-India summer research program. His project focused on optimizing data management for scientific workflows in the cloud.

Prasanth Thomas

Programmer (MS) 

Prasanth started out as a Student worker at ISI, progressing to being a fulltime Programmer spending 3 years from 2009-2011 at ISI. An excellent progammer he is now employed at Yahoo.
